A few hours after President William Ruto announced that the government will sponsor a bill that would make November 1, every year, a national holiday to celebrate Diwari, the atheists also want to put on their special holiday.
Last Wednesday, President Ruto promised
that the government would make Diwali a national holiday when he met with
representatives of the country's Hindu community at the office of the head of
state.
President Ruto said that he will speak to the Speaker of Parliament, Moses Wetang'ula, so that the bill includes the request that every November 1st every year, be a holiday in Kenya for Hindus to celebrate the day in their day is known as "Diwali"
Rutho reacting to the grievance of some of his citizens
Rutho said, "I have heard your request
that Diwali should be considered as a national holiday. It will be decided by
the parliament and the Speaker is here, I promise that in November 2025 we will
celebrate that festival."
After that President Ruto allowed the
Hindus to celebrate Diwali. The atheists also said that they want a holiday in
the country so that they can celebrate their festival.
Only those who do not believe in God have
mentioned the date and month they want to celebrate their festival of being
atheists.
President Ruto has promised Hindus that
every November 1 will be a holiday.
