On Sunday, July 21, 2024, Biden announced that he has chosen Kamala Harris, who is currently the Vice President, to replace her as the representative of the party in the Presidential elections that will be held in November this year.

Biden on Wednesday announced that it was a difficult decision he made, but it was necessary because the country needs new blood.

He said, “I respect this moment very much, but I love my country even more. It's an honor to be President but protecting our endangered democracy I think is more important than anything else.”

The 81-year-old Biden said that the country needs new blood to take it to another level.

Biden also said that Kamala Harris chose to replace him without lying to him, because during the four years they have been his Vice President, she has shown him that she is capable.

Biden was allowed to run for a second term, but since June, when he met in a debate with Donald Trump, who is seeking another term, he has been under pressure to endorse another candidate who has the power to challenge Trump.
