Nigeria: More than 200 people have been killed by floods and another 208,000 have been displaced

Heavy rains that have hit parts of Nigeria for days have killed more than 200 people and displaced 208,000 people and damaged infrastructure, according to the country's Disaster Management Agency.

The people of Nigeria are often affected by floods mainly as a result of not following the instructions to strengthen protection, in the year 2022 the floods killed more than 600 people and more than a million people were displaced from their homes.

The agency also warned that flooding could increase in the coming weeks.

Its spokesman, Manzo Ezekiel, announced that others living in the most affected areas are being asked to move quickly to save their lives.

The floods have so far destroyed 107,000 hectares of agricultural land, mainly in the northern province which is where most of the country's crop production comes from.

Many farmers in the province have been out of work for a long time due to violent attacks by armed groups, which has made the country one of the most hungry people in the world.

United States Food Agency, U.N. food agency, announced that Nigeria has the highest number of hungry people in the world, where 32 million or about 10% are hungry.
